Internal Clinic FNB and 3. LF UK

NOTICE:  Due to technical reasons, there are outages of the telecommunication network at specialized outpatient clinics, namely the endocrinology ( +420 26608 2926), diabetes (+420 26608 2684) and cardiology-angiology outpatient clinics (+420 26608 2550).  We are working on fixing the defect. Thank you for your understanding.

Internal medicine, as one of the very basic disciplines, provides acute standard and intensive hospital care in virtually the entire scope of the field of internal medicine.

Pavilion 10, whose then very modern construction began in 1927, is located in the western part of the FNB tract on a cliff high above the city centre and the Vltava River with spectacular views.

The Internal Clinic tries to continue the glorious era when the head of the clinic was Professor MUDr. Zdeněk Mařatka DrSc., a pioneer of Czechoslovak and thus Czech gastroenterology, from 1958 to 1984. This is one of the reasons why he was awarded the title of Knight of the Czech Medical State in 2001.

The workplace has 14 intensive care beds divided into two units (the one on the first floor has been completely reconstructed) and 105 acute standard beds in single to four-bedded rooms divided into four bed stations.

Current demand and often enforced non-medical use of the bed stock - social hospitalisation etc. - would require a number of 120 to 130 acute standard beds. Unfortunately, this runs up against a generally chronic shortage of medical staff.

Notwithstanding the necessary total refurbishment, one of the six modern, above-standard single rooms can be requested, subject to availability (see. FNB price list) at Station II. B in the completely separate quiet western part of the building. The room amenities correspond to the standard of a three-star hotel, i.e. separate bathroom, TV, refrigerator (these rooms are unfortunately temporarily unavailable).

Connection to public wi-fi FNB is available in the entire pavilion.

Short-term parking (charged after 30 minutes) is usually available directly outside the pavilion. However, for longer parking it is advisable or even necessary to use the new main FNB car park in the eastern part of the campus near Hall 4.

List of specific activities

Acute internal care is provided mainly for the huge catchment area of Prague 8, the former "big" Prague 9 (i.e. including Miskovice, Čakovice, Kbel, Satalice, Vinoř, Horní and Dolní Počernice, Běchovice, Klánovice, Újezda nad Lesy and old Hrdlořez). This means also for the closed former Vysočany hospital. And if the bed and staffing situation permits, also for the inhabitants of the neighbouring part of the Central Bohemian Region. Which is not always, unfortunately, the standard.

Acute examinations and eventual admission for hospitalization take place at the non-stop functioning acute internal outpatient clinic on the 1st floor of the pavilion. The current system of acute outpatient care, which is still less than ideal, leads to its permanent overload due to numerous transports by the HMP Emergency Department, especially during the UPS (inpatient emergency services). It is always particularly critical on Fridays, but it tends to be similar before, on and at weekends. Clients must therefore prepare for longer periods of general examination, including waiting. For their eventual refreshment, there are vending machines both in the premises of the outpatient clinic itself and at the main entrance to the building.

Specialized are the endocrinology, diabetes and cardiology outpatient clinics, which also includes the angiology outpatient clinic. These clinics operate only during normal working hours and it is necessary to make an appointment in advance. Therefore, we do not provide the exclusion of venous thrombosis outside of normal working hours! Similarly, the clinic does not provide paediatric endocrinology and diabetology! It is necessary to call to the Children's Department of the FNB, tel.: 26608 2382.

Another specialized outpatient clinic, also significantly modernized, is the Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinic (GEA). The GEA focuses on the full spectrum of diseases of the digestive tract, liver, biliary tract and pancreas. It also functions as a GE center with biological treatment options for certain diagnoses. The full range of necessary investigations are performed here - gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, non-targeted liver biopsies. And an endosonography option is in the works.

With the needs of running a hospital in mind, GEA provides a 24-hour service. However, this is of course only for clients already hospitalized in hospitals.
