Pneumology Clinic

The Pneumology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine and the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University provides outpatient and inpatient care for patients in the entire spectrum of lung diseases. The clinic is located in Building 4. It is a teaching base for the field of pneumology at 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague.

We provide highly specialized care for patients in the entire spectrum of lung diseases. Core programs include care of patients with  lung tumors, diseases associated with airway obstruction, interstitial lung processes and sleep-disordered breathing, and deals with indications for home non-invasive ventilation. The majority of patients are cases referred to the clinic for consiliar and superconsiliar evaluation. The main proportion of patients is from the close  area of Prague districts 8, 9, 10 and 14 and a significant part of the Central Bohemia region.

The Pneumology Clinic is one of the specialised pneumo-oncology centres, dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.

The inpatient wards have 48 beds, of which 23 are in the clinical oncology speciality, 4 beds in the intensive care unit and 25 beds for other lung diseases.

The clinic has a general pulmonary outpatient clinic, specialised outpatient clinics for pulmonary obstructions (COPD and asthma bronchiale), lung tumours, interstitial lung processes, sleep-disordered breathing, an outpatient clinic for tobacco addicts, a functional laboratory for lung function tests and indication of non-invasive pulmonary ventilation, and a bronchology department. 

Outside of outpatient hours, the clinic provides 24-hour emergency service during the week, weekends or public holidays for patients with acute lung problems.The clinic closely cooperates with the Surgical Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, IPVZ, the Institute of Radiation Oncology of the 1st Faculty of Medicine and other departments of the Bulovka University Hospital and also the Královské Vinohrady University Hospital, where the pulmonary department is missing. We are a clinic of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and we teach pneumology in the whole spectrum. The clinic cooperates in several lung disease registries. We present the results of our work at many national and international conferences and in publications.
