Clinic of Rehabilitation of FNB and FBMI CTU

Clinic of Rehabilitation of FNB and FBMI CTU provides comprehensive rehabilitation diagnostic and therapeutic care for outpatients and hospitalized patients in departments and clinics.

We provide continuous rehabilitation in internal and surgical fields. We provide therapeutic physical education, physical therapy, hydrotherapy treatments, pool exercises, EMG examinations, selective stimulation for peripheral paresis. For a fee we apply laser, acupuncture, kinesiotaping and massage.

The clinic is staffed by physicians with certification in Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (RFM), neurology and orthopedics, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical speech therapist and massage therapist.

We are involved in training general practitioners, RFM practitioners and provide internships for physiotherapy and occupational therapy students.

The Occupational Therapy Clinic is located on the ground floor of the Department of Infectious Diseases (Building 7, entrance on the side opposite Building 8). S referral from a specialist or a general practitioner can be made through the outpatient department of the rehabilitation department of the Bulovka Hospital ( +420 266 082 105).

Ergotherapists focus on promoting self-sufficiency in people of different ages with various disabilities (physical, sensory, mental and social). The aim of occupational therapy is to help these people to re-engage in ordinary daily activities (hygiene, dressing, food preparation, shopping), work activities (paid work, volunteering, school, retraining courses) and leisure activities (recreational, educational, socialising), which contributes to their overall quality of life. Occupational therapy at the FNB is provided in both outpatient and inpatient form.

Specific interventions include:

  • increase in muscle strength
  • training in signing and writing
  • training in coordination of movements
  • training in attention and memory
  • development of food preparation procedures
  • manipulation of small objects
  • selection of compensatory aids
  • training in balance;sitting and standing
  • tying shoelaces and fastening buttons
  • training to discriminate tactile stimuli

  • moving to a chair and wheelchair
  • training to ride in a wheelchair
  • adjusting work and home environments
  • planning time and finding a balance between activities

The Clinical Speech and Language Therapy Clinic at Bulovka Hospital provides mainly acute and follow-up care for patients with communication disorders. In a consiliar form we provide diagnostics and therapy for hospitalized patients in individual inpatient wards. Follow-up care is provided on an outpatient basis, when clients come to the outpatient clinic of a clinical speech therapist after a telephone appointment.

The Clinical Speech Therapy Department offers all standard diagnostic and therapeutic activities, e.g.:

  • diagnosis and therapy of patients after stroke, brain injuries, brain tumors, inflammatory diseases of the CNS, brain atrophy and intoxications of the brain as well as non-specific communication disorders in neurological and oncological patients including swallowing disorders,
  • supportive stimulation psychotherapeutic techniques, application of orofacial techniques, basal stimulation,
  • the possibility of speech therapy prehabilitation in patients with oncological diseases in the throat and oral cavity (instruction before the procedure itself and subsequent postoperative therapy for swallowing disorders).  

Ambulance works closely with neurology, rehabilitation, phoniatry, oncology, internal medicine, geriatrics and psychiatry.

Watsu Therapy

Watsu Therapy is provided in building no. 13, ground floor, hydrotherapy.

Dates: by appointment, MON-FRI from 15.30, 16.30 and 17.30.

Watsu is a rehabilitation and relaxation therapy on the surface of warm water (33-34 °C) including elements of stretching, massage of specific meridians, kinesiotherapy and Japanese shiatsu massage combined with the beneficial effects of warm water. It is a so-called passive form of hydrotherapy, i.e. not an exercise in water. The Watsu method is suitable for all age groups, from babies to the elderly. One session lasts approximately one hour.

Indications

  • Neurology: cerebral palsy, spastic palsy, brain injury, chronic pain, Parkinson's disease.
  • Orthopedics: muscle spasms, post-immobilization rhb, fibromyalgia, fascia work.
  • Rheumatology: reducing chronic pain.
  • Psychotherapy: autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, post traumatic stress disorder, relaxation, improving mobility and sense of momentum.
  • Sports regeneration: for fatigue, excessive stress, acceleration of recovery after a training period.
  • Repeat therapy: overall improvement in sleep quality, improvement of metabolic processes and digestion, activation of the immune system and stimulation of the body's self-healing processes, reduction of depression and anxiety, establishment of a sense of well-being.
