The Infectious Diseases Clinic is the largest facility of its kind in the Czech Republic - care is provided to patients from early childhood to the elderly. 

The clinic has several standard wards for hospitalization of patients in isolation and also a separate children's ward. The department is equipped with an operating and delivery theatre for patients with infection or in isolation who cannot be accommodated in the regular wards of the hospital. The clinic also has two intensive care units that have ventilation and dialysis machines.

As the only workplace in the Czech Republic, the clinic is also equipped with facilities for isolation and treatment of patients with highly dangerous or suspected infections. These include bleeding fevers such as Lassa, Ebola or pneumonic plague. The group of so-called imported diseases also includes, for example, traveler's diarrhoea, typhoid fever, malaria, dengue fever and many others. However, the clinic also investigates and treats infectious diseases that are commonly found in the Czech Republic - for example, zoonoses or animal-borne diseases, brain and meningitis, febrile conditions, infectious endocarditis, sepsis, hepatitis, HIV, infectious mononucleosis, Lyme borreliosis and others. 

Within our department, there is a central outpatient clinic for the admission of patients or acute investigation of patients with infectious diseases, as well as specialized outpatient clinics and a vaccination center for pediatric and adult patients, including patients from at-risk groups. 

The Infectious Diseases Clinic is accredited for the highest level of training in infectious diseases within the framework of postgraduate studies. It is also the clinical base of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, where theoretical and practical teaching of students of medical faculties takes place.
