Central blood collection sites 

 

There are two central blood collection sites at the FNB, whose services are partly different. Please pay attention to the following information in advance and select the collection site that matches your testing requirements. Thank you. Central Collection Point (COM) 

(Building 2)

Operating Hours: MON-FRI  6.30am-2.00pm (break 12.00-12.30)

-If you are only going for a collection and do not need to visit another ward or outpatient clinic on the hospital campus at the same time, please choose this collection point.
- Collection of outpatients and children aged 10 years and over.
- COVID-19 antibodies are collected here for self-payers only, and these collections can be paid for by credit card and cash on site
- Higher capacity facility, with two nurses collecting samples.
- The workplace has a wheelchair accessible entrance and easier access from the tram, so it is suitable for elderly patients.

Note - collection for Quantiferon cannot be done on Friday.
 

Central Collection Point (COM) 8 - Central Laboratories

(Building 8, entrance shared with the haematology outpatient clinic)

Operating Hours: 
Mon-Tue  6.30-14.00 (break 11.30-12.00)
ST-FRI  6.30-12.00

-Note, no cash or card payment here, self-payment must be made at the ticket office in Building 1.

Outpatient and children 10 years and older.
-An oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), including a test to rule out gestational diabetes, is performed by appointment.
- Only here is the collection for specific tests performed, where the sample must be processed immediately: e.g.
- The workplace has wheelchair access, samples are taken by one nurse.

 Note - collection for Quantiferon cannot be done on Fridays.

 

Sampling Point for Microbiological Testing 

(Building 8, entrance one floor below - basement in the middle of the building)

  • We perform and accept material here for microbiological or parasitological testing from self-payers. 
  • We perform throat and nasopharyngeal swabs for PCR testing of respiratory viruses or  PCR screening for monkey-pox.
  • Payment for self-pay testing can be made on a cashless basis.
