Social Health Department
The mission of a health care social worker is to help patients and their loved ones cope with the negative social consequences of illness.
Social care is carried out in close interdisciplinary cooperation with health care workers, with the patient's family, and also in close cooperation with relevant authorities and health care facilities, according to the specific needs and problems of the patient. It is intended for patients who are in an unfavourable social situation and are unable to cope with this situation on their own due to illness, disability, age, loss of self-sufficiency, loneliness, dependence, insufficient social background.
Social work is provided by 6 social workers who attend assigned clinics to provide care for adult and pediatric patients.
Social workers provide:
- Social care services - nursing services, day service centers, homes for the elderly.
- Social prevention services - shelters, residential homes, dormitories, contact centers.
- Health Services - home nursing services called Home-Care, hospice care, aftercare beds, Hospices for the long-term ill, Gerentology and nursing centers.
Criteria for the provision of social health assistance:
Adult patient
- uninhabitable patient who is unable to perform normal daily activities on his/her own / dressing, eating, performing basic hygiene.
- patient lonely, disoriented, without keys to the apartment.
- patient requiring follow-up health care in LDN, Hospice, Gerontological Center.
- patient requiring follow-up health or social care in home environment-PS, Home- Care.
- patient who is suspected to have been a victim of abuse.
- patient who asks for consultation - counselling help.
The aim of the health and social team in hospital is to improve the patient's quality of life by discharging him/her to a home environment, if his/her health and background allows it, or placing him/her in a social or health care facility.
Pregnant or postnatal mothers
- mother's immaturity, suspected alcohol or other substance dependence.
- mother psychiatrically decompensated.
- mother without suitable social background, e.g. homeless.
- a mother who has decided to give her child up for adoption or a mother who has left her child in the maternity hospital and has not shown interest in taking him/her over.
The aim of the health and social care team in the hospital is to improve the quality of life of the patient by discharging him/her to a home environment, if his/her health and background permit, or by placing him/her in a social or health care facility.
Child patient
- child of a minor mother.
- child with injury of unclear origin.
- child who has arrived at the hospital neglected.
- child whose parents do not fulfill their parental responsibilities.
- a child for whom adequate and appropriate accommodation is not provided.
- a child for whom alcohol and substance abuse is suspected.
- a child for whom sex is suspected. abuse or maltreatment.
- child admitted from a DD or other social facility.
- child in whom bullying is suspected.
- child in whom educational and developmental risks are suspected.
- a child who is seriously ill requiring, special care and the parents do not guarantee that they can handle the care.
- a child who has been abandoned by the mother in the maternity hospital.
- a child whom the mother has decided to give up for adoption.
- a child who leads an idle or immoral life.

Visiting Hours
Mon-Thu 8.00-15.30
Fri 8.00-14.00
Social Worker. They visit patients in clinics and also work outside the hospital, it is advisable to arrange a visit by phone with a specific social worker.
