Spa treatment
Treatment of nervous diseases
The Bulovka University Hospital is the operator of the Toušeň Peat Spa, where we use one of nature's greatest gifts for the treatment of nervous diseases - the unique sulphur-iron peat. It can effectively help patients affected by specific nervous diseases, such as polyneuropathy. But also other treatments, such as carbon dioxide baths, generously promote blood circulation in the microscopic blood vessels in the acral (peripheral) parts of the body. These blood vessels are crucial for the nourishment and regeneration of the tiny nerve endings that are affected in polyneuropathy.
"Our patients gradually get rid of unpleasant tingling and burning sensations thanks to the spa treatments, while at the same time the sensitivity and mobility of the fingers and toes return. The effect of natural healing resources is enhanced by exercises with experienced physiotherapists who use special facilitation techniques to strengthen weakened or paralyzed muscles," says Ivo Kramařík, MD, head of the Slatine Spa Toušeň.
Another ailment that spa treatment can alleviate is root syndromes. These are most often manifested by spinal pain and shooting pain into the limbs, usually due to a prolapsed intervertebral disc.
Spa treatment is based on the experience of highly qualified physiotherapists who use manual traction and other myoskeletal medicine techniques to reduce the pressure on the affected nerve root. Patients also receive pain relief from the effects of physical therapy, such as various types of electrotherapy currents, distance electrotherapy, and the like.
