The inpatient section of the children's ward admits paediatric patients from neonatal age to age 19. We have 30 beds including 5 lower level intensive care beds. 2 rooms are superior - separate rooms for mother and baby with appropriate facilities. The price for a superior room is CZK 1 000,-/day up to 6 years of age of the child, over 6 years of age of the child is CZK 1 330,- + CZK 330,- for all-day meals. 

Child and Parent Stay

When the situation allows, we always prefer the child to stay with parent. Staying with the parent of a child under 6 years of age is customary and is fully covered by the insurance company. We will gladly allow a parent of a child over the age of six to stay if current bed capacity allows. In this case, the parent pays CZK 400 per night. Parents of children with disabilities over the age of 6 may have their stay fully covered by the insurance company if approved by the insurance company's reviewing physician.

Visits to the department

Most children are admitted to the ward with a parent. Visits of other family members are of course possible and their time is not strictly limited, but from the point of view of the ward operation, the best time for visits is in the afternoon after 2 pm. We limit the maximum number of people coming to visit one patient at a given time to two.

Earlier visit times should be arranged with the attending physician or nurse.

We also do not strictly limit the evening end time, but it is necessary to take into account the evening routine of children, so visits generally end no later than between 8-9 pm. It is possible to arrange with the attending physician for visits at any time of the day, but always with regard to ward traffic. Visits of siblings under 15 years of age are not completely excluded, but it is necessary to inform the doctor about them and to agree on their suitability in terms of the current epidemiological situation in the ward and the patient's condition.

What to take with you to hospital

Phygiene items, pajamas, bathrobe, changing shoes, diapers, for babies on formula their usual milk and formula, clothes to wear outside, books, toys.

School at the hospital

Every weekday morning, a kindergarten or elementary school teacher attends to children who no longer require acute care. Teachers follow the recommendations of the child's own primary school teacher and discuss with the children the material according to this assignment. Some afternoons are enriched with other activities for the children, such as visits to the health clowns and the puppet theatre.

Training of medics

On some days, our department hosts the teaching of the 2nd and 3rd medical faculties of Charles University. During your hospitalization, you may be asked to cooperate with teaching. Thank you for your kind understanding.
