The department opened on November 7, 2007. The opening was preceded by a complete renovation of the original outdated and unused premises. Major structural alterations were carried out, new water, electricity and medical gas distribution systems were installed and a new air conditioning system was built. At the same time, the department was equipped with completely new medical equipment, which was largely paid for from external sources (mainly the foundation Kapka naděje). The interiors are equipped with new furniture.

A medical team has been assembled, which currently consists of four board-certified doctors and seven junior doctors.

The Intensive Care Unit is equipped with modern equipment to provide all types of conventional ventilatory support to newborns-. invasive and non-invasive (ventilators, nCPAPs, Vapotherms).Each intensive care bed or incubator is equipped with a vital signs monitor and infusion pumps. The ICU equipment includes a blood gas analyzer, mobile X-ray, diagnostic ultrasound machine and ECG machine.

ICU visiting hours

We try to maintain as much contact with mothers as possible for all young patients in the ICU. For acute and unstable babies a visit by appointment is possible at any time, for other babies mums attend at 3 hour intervals. Mothers who come to the NICU to breastfeed are also not restricted.

For other family members, visits on weekdays from 14.30 to 18.00 and on weekends from 13.30 to 18.00, always only 2 people per baby. Visits may also be restricted when medical and diagnostic procedures are performed. All these restrictions are in view of the intensive condition of our little patients. Thank you for respecting this. We also ask dads to tact us if any moms will be breastfeeding in the ICU.
