This department currently has 30 beds, which corresponds to a capacity of over 2400 deliveries per year. The department consists of a rooming-in section and an observation box. In our ward, we care for mothers with healthy newborns using the Rooming-in system, which means they are both in the room together for the duration of the hospital stay. We place great emphasis on a kind individual approach to mothers. Our aim is to help mothers cope with the postpartum period as best as possible, to support them in developing breastfeeding and to teach them how to care for their baby properly. If there are no complications,  we usually discharge the baby around the 72nd hour of life. In the event of medical complications for the mother or baby (most commonly neonatal jaundice, uncomplicated infections, mild postpartum adaptation disorder), the baby may be cared for in the observation box.

In nursing care, we advocate a respectful and friendly approach to mother and child while maintaining maximum safety for both. These procedures are determined by methodological guidelines of the Czech Neonatological Society or by decrees of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic.

We do the following for your babies:

  •  screening for congenital cataracts

  •   application of vitamin K
