How to prepare for your consultation: Before attending your consultation, it is a good idea to prepare a list of all the medical conditions you are being treated for and a list of the medicines you are taking (both short-term and long-term).

What you need to bring with you to your appointment: your health insurance card, a referral for the appointment from your GP or local dermatologist (if you have one), and a list of the medicines you are taking.

In the building is installed a calling system. When entering the building in front of the reception, print out a sequential ticket according to the nature of his/her treatment (unordered patient, ordered patient, hospitalization, requests/withdrawals) and watch the screen. After your order number appears on the screen, enter the reception area. Our nurses will first check your insurance, enter your information into the information system and ask you to sign a consent form for examination and treatment. They will then give you the number of the outpatient clinic outside which you will wait to be examined. Your order number will be called out by the doctor and you will see it lit up above the door of this surgery and on all the large screens. The moment the number lights up above the door, that door will automatically open.

The clinic works as a team, it is not possible to pre-determine the doctor who will treat you. However, you can ask the examining doctor to invite you to come in for a check-up (if the surgery allows it).

Ambulance

General (acute)

It is used for examination of unannounced patients, controls and consular examinations. Non-appointed patients are invited to the clinic, preferably in the order of arrival for examination, priority is given to high-risk groups and acute conditions, the order of patients in this clinic is determined by the attending physician. Although our staff strives to minimize patient wait times, it is possible that unbooked patients may wait longer for their appointments.

Venereology Centre

The Venereology Centre of our clinic is one of the largest in Central Europe. It offers comprehensive preventive, diagnostic therapeutic and dispensary services, including a centre for HIV/AIDS patients.

In the Venereology Center we perform examinations for gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydial infections (including lymphogranuloma venereum), HIV, viral hepatitis, herpes infections (genital herpes), HPV infection (genital warts), soft ulcer (ulcus molle), ureaplasma and mycoplasma infections, mycotic and protozoal infections.

We perform clinical, laboratory and histological examination of cutaneous non-infectious manifestations (psoriasis, eczema, lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, etc.) and pigmented lesions on the genital area in adult and pediatric patients.

We offer screening for sexually transmitted diseases after risky sexual intercourse, including screening for hepatitis and HIV infection. If this is a repeat examination at the request of the patient, the examination is paid for by the patient.

The Venereology Center also addresses HPV infection, provides screening for anal cancer (mainly for HIV-positive patients), and offers, at the patient's expense, vaccination against HPV viruses that can cause cancer of the anogenital tract, oral cavity and genital warts.

Centre of Paediatric Dermatology

Children's outpatient clinic: examination and treatment of children with all types of skin diseases. Care for pediatric patients is comprehensive. In case of need hospitalization in our inpatient ward accompanied by parents is possible.

Genodermatosis Service: we follow up at regular intervals children with moles, congenital skin diseases (ichthyosis, nevi), vascular disorders (hemagiomas). In the care of these small patients we closely cooperate with Institute of Medical Genetics of the University Hospital in Motol.

We use all possibilities of non-invasive methods of examination in children, the outpatient clinic is equipped with a digital dermatoscope. This examination is covered by health insurance companies.

We use vascular laser in the treatment of hemangiomas , this treatment is covered by health insurance companies. In case of infantile hemangiomas in patients up to 6 months of age, we can offer propranolol therapy in cooperation with the pediatric department of Bulovka University Hospital, if the treatment is suitable for the patient.

Our clinic belongs to the network of European reference centres for rare skin diseases.

Lymphology Centre

The Lymphology Centre provides complex decongestive therapy to patients with primary or secondary lymphedema. This therapy includes manual lymphatic drainage, instrumental lymphatic drainage (presotherapy), bandaging and exercise. Under the supervision of trained physicians, the clinic treats more than 800 patients a year.

The decision to start complex therapy is made by the physician of the lymphology outpatient clinic, where the patient must first be examined. In addition to clinical and laboratory examination, lymphoscintigraphy is used in the diagnosis of lymphoedema. For patients with congenital lymphoedema, we cooperate with the Institute of Medical Genetics of Motol University Hospital.

The Lymphology Centre has Certificate of Quality Guarantee of the Czech Lymphological Society of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Outpatient clinic for pigmented moles

Diagnosis of pigmented lesions and skin tumors is performed by sight, manual and digital dermatoscope.

Regular examinations of pigmented moles should be once a year, and twice a year for patients with risk factors.

Outpatient clinic for non-melanoma skin tumours (dermatooncology)

Basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas (basalioma and squamous cell carcinoma) are the most common skin malignancies, in the treatment of which the most important is their early removal (excision).

Diagnosis of skin tumors is performed by sight, handheld and digital dermatoscope. Confirmation of the diagnosis is always made after histological examination.

Treatment of basalioma and spinalioma is surgical, i.e. excision of the tumor under local anesthesia. For some types of tumours some other non-invasive methods (imiquimod treatment, crystallization or photodynamic therapy) can be chosen.

Patients with non-melanoma skin tumors are dispensed and attend regular follow-ups.

Melanoma Commission - Thu 14.00 - 15.00

The Melanoma Clinic is for patients with suspected or confirmed melanoma. These patients are cared for by an interdisciplinary team of physicians who determine the optimal treatment approach.

Further dispensary treatment takes place in our clinic, if subsequent total treatment is required, including biological treatment, the therapy takes place in oncology.

The clinic's treatment room is designed for excision of skin moles, benign and malignant skin tumors, cysts and lipomas.

Before the procedure, a consultation with the doctor who indicates the procedure is necessary.

In the therapeutic outpatient clinic small surgical procedures, skin sampling for histological examination, treatment of skin manifestations with use of diathermocoagulation, low temperatures (liquid nitrogen, carbonic acid snow) are performed. These methods can be used to remove small vascular formations (dilated veins), old age warts, fibromas and many other types of skin formations.

Corrective dermatology

Offers care for a wide range of diseases, including their systemic therapy. These diseases include acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis and others.

The clinic also treats diseases of the nails and hair.

Chemical peeling (local application of fruit acids): allows to improve pigmentation, acne scars, wrinkles.

Treatment of vascular changes (hemangiomas, whiskers) with vascular laser. The treatment of hemangiomas with vascular laser in children is covered by health insurance.

The treatment of scars (keloids) is complicated, but we offer the possibility of improving the appearance of the scar with local medication, vascular laser treatment.

Most cosmetic treatments are not covered by health insurance.

Phlebology outpatient clinic (tibial ulcers)

Provides treatment of (shin) ulcers of venous origin classical treatment and preparations of modern moist wound healing.

Treatment of patients with tibial ulcers is outpatient, we hospitalize only those patients who have complications (infection, contact allergy, etc.). We closely cooperate with vascular outpatient clinic of the surgical clinic and angiology outpatient clinic.

Allergy outpatient clinic

Patients with suspected contact allergic eczema are examined at the allergy clinic, where we investigate the cause of eczema using skin tests, called epicutaneous tests. This is the only method that can reveal whether a particular substance that has come into contact with the skin has led to the onset of the disease. If such a substance is present in the working environment, further targeted investigations should be carried out to establish any occupational connection.

Epicutaneous tests are a set of allergens that are applied with a patch to the skin of the back. The patient has to be seen by a doctor two and three days after application. If any of the tests are positive, the doctor will instruct the patient on what substances to avoid in everyday life or recommend further testing to rule out occupational disease.

Outpatient clinic for psoriasis

Lupus is a chronic immune-mediated skin disease that significantly reduces the quality of life of patients.

Successful treatment of psoriasis usually requires long-term treatment according to the severity of the patient's disease and any other manifestations of the disease (joint involvement).

At our clinic we offer patients options of local therapy of psoriasis, light therapy (phototherapy) - including excimer light, systemic and biological therapy, if indicated.

Outpatient clinic for IBD patients

In cooperation with Clinical and Research Center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases ISCARE we take care of patients with skin manifestations of nonspecific intestinal inflammation (inflammatory bowel disease, IBD - ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease), including skin and mucosal complications of their biological treatment.

Ambulance of general therapy

Nowadays, in dermatology, we use many general medicines that effectively and quickly treat various skin diseases. These include immunosuppressants (corticosteroids, cyclosporine, azathioprine), cytostatics (methotrexate), retinoids and many other groups of drugs. All of the general medications have potential side effects, so their administration must be carefully monitored and patients must attend regular laboratory and clinical examinations.

Outpatient clinic for atopic eczema

Atopic eczema is one of the most common chronic skin diseases.

The basis of successful treatment is a complex long-term therapy. For patients with atopic eczema we offer topical treatment options, phototherapy, systemic and biological therapy.

Cancer wound outpatient clinic

Provides treatment of oncological defects and wounds caused by both surgical procedures and radiotherapy.

The treatment uses both classical local therapy and modern moist wound healing.

Ambulance phototherapy

Phototherapy (light therapy) is used to treat a number of skin diseases such as. atopic eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, vitiligo, as well as mycosis fungoides.

The clinic is equipped with radiators for chamber and local phototherapy with UVB 311 nm and a device for focused phototherapy.

The clinic is equipped with equipment for excimer phototherapy, which is covered by health insurance for psoriasis therapy, in case of other diseases the patient must pay for it.

Light therapy is performed by trained nurses, according to the doctor's indication.

Thanks to the Foundation for Atopic Dermatitis ("Fondation Dermatite Atopique"), we have been able to open the so-called "Atopic Dermatitis Center" since 2012.The "Atopia School", where a pediatric nurse trained in the care of children with atopic eczema educates patients and their parents on how to care for their skin, how to apply external medications and what to avoid in daily activities. Part of the education is also practical training in the application of external medicines. The education is individual or group. It is necessary to make an appointment in advance in person or by calling +420 26608 2237.

Purulent diseases are rare, often chronic diseases that can affect the skin and mucous membranes. They are usually autoimmune in origin and their correct diagnosis requires a comprehensive examination.

In our outpatient clinic we perform specialized examinations, treatment in accordance with the latest recommendations, including targeted treatment when indicated, and long-term follow-up of patients to achieve the best possible control of the disease.
