The Department of Forensic Toxicology performs testing of samples for the presence of more than 1300 toxicologically significant substances and their metabolites from the categories of drugs, narcotic and psychotropic substances, alcohols, volatile substances and other significant xenobiotics, mainly in biological material such as blood, urine, stomach contents, or saliva.

The laboratory also performs specialized toxicological examinations such as hair analysis for the detection of possible drug and pharmaceutical abuse, which is suitable for the detection of an unknown substance in a given matrix after prolonged exposure, when it is no longer possible to detect the toxic substance from biological material such as blood, urine or stomach contents. Another specialized analysis that the laboratory is able to perform on request is the analysis of snot in newborns of mothers with suspected drug addiction.

The blood levels of alcohol and selected narcotics and psychotropic substances are routinely determined in the

The collaboration betweenDepartment of Clinical Pharmacy and the toxicology laboratory, a new, highly specialized laboratory, called.
